SES is a social enterprise company with 25 years of practical business experience in supporting and developing social and community enterprise and the growth of self-employment within North East England. The company operates across the North East of England from offices in Sunderland, East Durham, South Tyneside, North Tyneside and Newcastle. It is also one of the largest organisations delivering social enterprise expertise in the north of England. At the heart of all SES activity is the development of enterprise skills, the growth of self-employment and supporting successful social enterprises to offer people alternative routes out of inequality and poverty. The vision of SES is therefore “To use enterprise in all its forms as a vehicle for the alleviation of inequality and poverty by taking an evidence-based approach”. This website contains a broad range of information to support social enterprises across the North East of England and the UK. There is also help and advice on more traditional business start-up and on-going support. We update the different sections of the website regularly. The news section features news from SES and local and national business news, policy briefings and funding announcements. The resources section contains links to external sites that could be useful to social enterprises and other third sector organisations. Similarly, the events/training opportunities section lists upcoming local and national events aimed at organisations with social aims. Please explore our website - your comments, suggestions and ideas are welcome. To make the network successful and a useful tool for you, we need you to tell us what you require from a network for the social enterprise sector.
